Audio Engine - New York, NY

Created in collaboration with studio architect/acoustician John Storyk of the Walters-Storyk Design Group,  Audio Engine's The Cabin (Studio F) immerses clients in a luxuriously rustic 27’ x 20’ Adirondacks-style log cabin environment. Features include rough hewn, highly polished floors, a hand-set stone fireplace (with a 65” Sharp LC flat screen set in place of the traditional Yule log), hyper-elegant, custom furniture (including a ‘tree branch’ rocking chair), and a rear wall diffuser to enhance the pristine acoustics. A Digidesign Pro Tools HD3 workstation running on an Apple MacPro; five Digidesign 192-1/O’s, a Mojo SDI and a world-class B&W 5.1 monitoring system featuring 803D mains, SCMS surrounds and an ASW855 sub counterpoint the rural aesthetics for this decidedly 21st Century Audio Engine.

Art Institute - Washington, D.C.

The Walters-Storyk Design group designed new audio facilities within two of the Art Institutes' (www.artinstitutes.edu) 40 North American campuses. The first is a 1,200-square-foot facility within the Art Institute of Washington (Washington, D.C.), including a 500-square-foot live room and a 350-square-foot control room (pictured, left) centered around an SSL AWS 900 console and Dynaudio and Genelec monitoring systems, as well as a sound lock, iso booth and machine/storage room.

Sweatshop Studios - Katonah, NY

Sweatshop Studios is an 800 sq. ft. acoustic and aesthetic gem situated 50 miles north of New York City, in Katonah, New York. The full room-within-room design features a spacious 400 sq. ft. live room outfitted with Steinway Boston Grand piano and Hammond B-3. The 400 sq. ft. control room was developed to make long sessions as comfortable and productive as possible. The studio features full room within room construction and discrete concrete slabs to help maximize isolation properties.  Also, the room's performance--specifically the accuracy of the reverb and frequency response--is oustanding. Acoustic treatment includes mid frequency diffusers as well as wall and cieling treatments. For monitors, Sweatshop Studios boasts a Dynaudio BM15A 5.1 surround system with BM12S Sub.

Balance Studios - New Orleans, LA

Multi-Platinum producer/engineer/mixer Dave Fortman and partner/artist development exec. Gene Joanen's new Balance Recording Studio in the bucolic Big Easy suburb of Mandeville, was created by Walters-Storyk Design Group architect/acoustician John Storyk. The loft-like open space of the warehouse building provided expansive flexibility for a spacious 500 sq. ft. control room positioned in to provide maximum visibility into the 900 sq. ft. live room. Two oversized sound locks afford symmetrical access between the live and control rooms as well as iso booth capability. The two spacious rear machine rooms features 4 rack capacity to accommodate Balance's formidable technological arsenal. Warm, homey interiors heighten and support the creative environment. The acoustics were fine-tuned to enhance the full range of indigenous music production, from rock through blues, jazz and zydeco.
